Autism is a complex neurodevelopmental condition that profoundly affects how autistic individuals perceive and understand the world around them. Living with autism has its challenges, here are a few areas where individuals often find themselves struggling:
- Interacting and connecting with others can be tough.
- Sensory integration is a constant battle, as things like touch, noise, smell, light, and colours can be overwhelming.
- Processing and understanding their own experiences can sometimes be difficult.
Autism isn’t a one-size-fits-all condition. It’s a spectrum, and that means each person with autism experiences it in their own unique way.

– Telephone helpline: Reach out to us between 09:30-16:30, Monday-Friday. If we’re unavailable, leave a message, and we’ll get back to you within 3 working days.
– Drop-in advice sessions: Join us at various locations across Derbyshire for face-to-face support.

– Autism Alliance: Join our monthly peer support meetings, where autistic individuals connect, share experiences, and contribute to the improvement of autism services in Derbyshire County and Derby City.
– Autism in Schools: We support autistic pupils and offer training and awareness sessions for parents, carers, and professionals.
